Every week our Mobile Library visits the rural schools of Puerto Guadal, Puerto Bertrand and Mallín Grande for reading sessions led by trained reading mediators. The sessions build comprehension, but above all they aim to make children enjoy reading from an early age.
The Mobile Library is funded by the Book and Reading Fund of Chile's Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage.
Fundación La Fuente and Corporación Troquel give us expert support. Their teams chose age-appropriate books for our students, and Corporación Troquel trained the Cuenca Viva team, local teachers and residents in reading mediation and library management.
We want to keep building on this so our students grow up able to understand, question and enjoy what they read, with the critical thinking and curiosity that come with it.
Reading doesn't just add to what we know. It helps us take a fuller, freer part in society.
