Character education is nothing new: values, virtues and social-emotional skills have always been part of schooling. What has changed is the evidence. Research in economics and positive psychology shows how much these skills shape people's lives, and which teaching practices actually work. The Soy Astoreca program is built on that research.
Together with Fundación Astoreca and KommPakt Chile, we won the Collective Impact Fund, run by Fundación Reimagina with support from the BHP Foundation.
The fund has brought the Soy+ Astoreca program to the Aysén region for the first time, in our three schools in Puerto Guadal, Puerto Bertrand and Mallín Grande. It helps students build positive habits that give them the confidence to face life and contribute to their community.
